By: Meg Dilts

There are more than 17 millions which is one in every five women in the US are uninsured. The numbers could be higher now due to the prolonged high unemployment rate. Health insurance costs are still soaring with premium increase every year.

Many uninsured women are at the risk of suffering serious health problems. Because they postpone seeking treatment and prescription drugs. They don't get preventive care, including tests such as mammorgrams and Pap tests.

Even insured women are now also affected due to the rising costs. One in six privately insured women postponed or went without needed care because she could not afford it.
